Christmas is traditionally a time for giving and many businesses use the opportunity to show their customers they care. However your clients may have tightened up their procedures to ensure they comply with the Bribery Act 2010 so it is a good idea to check what your clients’ policies for the receipt of gifts and hospitality are before you go to any great expense.
As well as saying thank you you should be looking for ways in which you can build or extend a relationship with your clients. This doesn’t have to cost a fortune. It is often the small but thoughtful gesture that can have more impact than a showy gift.
Why not send your customers an unsolicited testimonial? Perhaps you could invite them to an event and introduce them to people who could be helpful to their business. Could you produce an e-book or even a physical guide to share some useful guidance or even some humour? Perhaps you could devise a joint marketing initiative so your client can benefit from your database. What about organising a fun, prize quiz with some of your questions being based on you and your product?
If you sell to the consumer market perhaps you could send a discount voucher or a small sample of a new product. Perhaps you could organise an exclusive customer event which could also be a selling event.
Whatever you do make sure you do something. If you don’t your competitors probably will. So get your thinking cap on and see what affordable and original ideas you can come up with and, as always, email glenda.shawley@thetrainingpack.co.uk if you want some help coming up with ideas.
